Ash Tree

[inspired by Scott Chaskey]

I’m holding an ash

axe handle

it allows me to cut

through ash

wood

I squeeze it and split it

simultaneously

and when it burns

down in the stove

I carry the ash

to the garden

so that it continues

singing its song

so that you hear ash

like poetry is meant

to be heard
