beyond color

Rothko couldn’t bear to mutilate

the human form any longer, so he

shifted to light and poetry — pinned as abstract — to which he would always respond: “It is not! It lives and breathes”

unlike so many, too many,

humans of the twentieth century.

It was a move towards music

towards the songs of the hues — intimation of harmony.

Whether you’ll find the sacred or

the profane, it depends

on what you want. All basic human

feelings are allowed to be found

here — beyond color.
