Humanities teacher’s assumptions about physics class
My student sent me a pdf
with some physics exercises
by accident, titled:
“Forces and moments”
Not familiar with the subject
I was free
to assume and hope
They must study what charges them
what, in that moment, pushes and
pulls them to do, to feel, to choose
or, how each moment impacts
the centre of their being’s gravity
or, perhaps, how to be
a responsible conductor
and how to allow diffractions
at the edge of life’s obstacles
To discern what are the dynamic
influences that change their body
from the state of rest
and how to hold their own
How to perceive frictions as
insights into their forming
value systems and what
detracts one from fusions
what and who are their generators
and how to be full of joules…
I stopped myself, because
I was too close to making
this poem cheesy and turn the word
joules into jewels or jolliest
still, this physics unit
in that moment
seemed human and gloriously
empowering.
