life is both

our villa with a bubbling jacuzzi

is attached to its past, really

it’s split in two realities

we are staying in clean

modern looking interiors

but when I peak beyond

the glass barrier of the balcony

all is falling apart

definition of ruin glued

to the wall with our sun beds

overgrowing vines, broken

wooden doors, stairs that lead

to nowhere, flowers growing

out of the floors — it’s unliveable

yet, I think, in the morning calm

it’s not worth deciding which side

is more beautiful.
