new day at the door

I heard a knock

sharp sound stifled

my monotone thoughts

about these days when

I wasn’t who I am

now, then, I was softer

in a good and bad way

and my hair was different too

often down and free

the tips of my fingers were

free too, but that hasn’t changed

a knock again, my first intuition

not to check

but what if it’s a new day

trying to offer itself

to my imagination, stand

still I can see your hopeful light

underneath the door frame

I stand up, move towards you

already in the hallway

I’m new, today

I’m new
