religion, I wonder

I am tempted to say

that my religion is wonder.

but I’m weary of those who

will squint their eyes

the ones who say they have the answers,

and render my doctrine unsound

Instead, then, giving it a name

I will live it. the leaves again

are on the trees, year after year,

and the lilacs are in bloom

in parks across Warsaw — Chopin’s

melodies will gather crowds because we all

intuit the power of beauty

the wind carries the notes, though

I don’t know from where it came

or where it will go, and will it keep

that sound within itself — or is it

a bridge to another world, I wonder.
