where it brings no offense

I pulled my mask down

to smell the lilacs

an autumn like wind

embraced the blooms

and again I paid attention

to all of the clichés

the smooth landing of the ducks

on the water, the harmonies

of bird songs, the lush green

spring trees, the setting sun

hitting their tops, the beating

of my animal heart

and the yearnings

of my unnamed soul

my pupils danced with the branches

in a liberating flow

I love what

I love when

I am here

here, where

it brings no offense
